Description:
The Hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and Anatolia, and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history, the hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye.
A nazar (Turkish: nazar boncuğu ) is an eye-shaped amulet believed to protect against the evil eye(“evil eye”, from nazar and “bead” from boncuğu). The word “nazar” is derived from the Arabic نظر, “sight” or “seeing”. It is believed that if your nazar amulet cracks or breaks, it has done its job of protecting you from some misfortune or bad luck and should be replaced!
